Palm Beach Derby, February 27-March 1, 2009

Holy x?.@..!!  This is a horse show all right!! 35 horses in the CDI grand prix, combined with about another 15 in the open division = 50 competing Grand Prix horses.  There 68 Prix St. George horses.

The grounds are beautiful, with grass & palm trees every where.  Of course that means NO DUST! 2 CDI arenas are needed to accomodate the entries, plus 3 other competition arenas.  Vendors are all in one area and it makes for sort of an equine mini mall.

There was one place where the horses had to cross a small driveway to get to the competition area.  For some reason it was super slippery and Mr. Chicago would always slip there.  I mentioned it to one of the grounds people, and litereally within an hour they had put down dirt and shavings for the horses….I LOVE THIS PLACE…

CHICAGO LOVES FLORIDA TOO…

On Saturday night we were lucky enough to be included at a private dinner hosted by Janne & Stan at the Everglades Club on Worth Ave, in Palm Beach.  The old club building was just amazing and dinner was wonderful.  Even the spinach was great.

Sunday was a full day of FEI Freestyles, awards ceremonies and of course, the lead-line class.
